Can a non U.S citizen sign up for Obama Inauguration Tickets?

I am Australian and I want tickets to Obama’s inauguration. How can I get hold of them legally or if that is not possible is there a black market for these tickets? Who should I approach?

There is no black market for the tickets. Anyone claiming to have Inauguration Tickets is a liar because:

1. Tickets are only available from your state congressmen or senators
2. Tickets are free
3. No body knows if they will even get tickets until 1 week before the inauguration. That’s when each congressman and senator will receive a small amount of tickets (like 150 or so) to distribute on either a first-come first serve basis or by lottery.

So if you aren’t a citizen and don’t have a congressman or senator, then I don’t think you can get tickets. Not to mention that each senator/congressman has received thousands of requests for tickets and they will only get 150 or so to give out.

So anyone claiming to have tickets is a scam artist. Tickets are free, and NO BODY will even have them until January 13, and they have to be actually picked up in washington DC by the person who made the initial request.

And then after January 13, there will probably be so many people “claiming” they got tickets from their congressmen and picked them up and can’t go, and it will be nearly impossible to distinguish the liars from the people who genuinely have them.

Not to mention you will hard-pressed to find a hotel, since every hotel within a 60 mile radius of DC is booked solid, and people are starting to actually offer up rooms in their house for $1,000 a night.
