What is George Washington’s LOGICAL appeal in his first inaugural address?
What is his EMOTIONAL appeal?
-ETHICAL appeal?
I just read his speech and I need a little bit of help with this, I am not the best at history at all, it would help me so much. =)

The speech is difficult to understand because stylistically it is so different from a modern speech. I’m not sure I know exactly what is the emotional and what is the logical part of the speech, but here’s my short interpretation.
Washington humbly and reluctantly accepts the office of president, because his country called. He says he was happy at his farm, and would have enjoyed retirement there.He implies that he is inexperienced at running a nation and says he will govern with guidance from the Almighty. He says he believes the difficult work of founding the nation was guided by God because all the pieces fell together in precisely the right way. I suppose that is the logical (cause – effect?) part of his speech.
He goes on to say he will follow the constitution, that he will act in the interest of the nation as a whole and will not favor local interests. He says will follow moral law as well and this will lead to happiness and prosperity for the nation. He says that he will turn down a salary and just ask for reimbursement of expenses. Finally, he reaffirms his faith that the new government will provide security, happiness and peace to America. The ending, I believe is the emotional part of the argument.
